It has free person alerts (though see below), free 14-day event-based cloud storage and a microSD card slot if you want continuous, local recording. You only get one motion zone for free
The Wyze Cam has the same key performance and features as Wyze's $30 Cam Pan, another solid, affordable indoor camera from the brand. But instead of a panning base, the Wyze Cam has a static base that you can manually angle, raise and lower. The value of those free features alone is a big deal -- factor in its cheap initial cost and solid performance, and the value is totally bonkers.

Wyze says it is working on in-house person detection software for next year and that it will continue to be free, but hasn't given a specific date of availability for the feature. 26, follows with minor adjustments. 27: In January 2020, Wyze will end its partnership with Xnor.ai, the company providing the Wyze Cam's person detection feature. This news has not affected our review score since the camera is still a very strong value. Our review, originally published on Nov.

For her efforts, Gassler won the top award at the Broadcom Masters science and engineering competition for middle schoolers and was awarded a $25,000 prize. With her use of fairly simple and affordable materials, her idea could eventually make its way into commercial vehicles as a standard safety feature.

And some apps, like Instagram, continue to display incorrectly on the main screen; you have to close the phone to view it the way it was meant to be seen. Trying to re-open your carefully curated app grids still feels like a crapshoot -- sometimes you can bring them back with a swipe on your homescreen, other times you can't. Unfortunately, some issues persist. Some apps don't lend themselves well to being stuffed into a multi-window grid, and the only way to find out is through trial and error.

While affordable, that's still double the price of the Wyze Cam -- and it looks like Wyze has made a couple of design updates (although I don't have a Spot handy for a direct side-by-side comparison). This cheap cam, called the Wyze Cam, is very similar to iSmartAlarm's Spot. class="cnetReview row" section=""> Nov 2019 If this $20 indoor security camera by Seattle-based smart home company Wyze looks familiar, you'd be right. The Spot used to cost $99, but is now available from iSmartAlarm for $40.

I'll wager you can't, especially at this price.  What other products have won an Editors' Choice award?
Amazon's inaugural camera isn't perfect -- there's no local storage and you have to subscribe to the optional cloud service to access detection zones and person alerts. But I dare you to find another HD live-streaming camera that doesn't sacrifice something significant (glitchy app, convoluted setup, wonky design).

11, 2019): A report that people are reviewing Amazon Cloud Cam footage has raised privacy concerns about how customer videos are used.  id="cnetReview" section="rvwBody" data-component="indepthReview"> Editors' note (Oct.

The approach is startlingly effective, with the car pillars appearing almost translucent and the driver easily able to see into the blind spots even when the car is in motion. Gassler says she used reflective fabric to make the image brighter and clearer, and to reflect the image only to the driver.

That's just what happens when your first taste of the future is an inherently fragile one. I will eventually have to give this review unit back to Samsung, so I get to dodge the inevitable what-ifs. If I didn't, though, I'd probably spend the rest of my time with the phone resigned to the fact that, https://www.camstank.com/ at some point, I would screw it up.

Affordable price
The Cloud Cam isn't the only device out there with these things, but it is one of the only cameras with all of these things. It's DIY home security at its best; it works well with minimal effort and expense.
